Review of 2016 - My Photography Year

Wow, I can hardly believe that 2016 is almost at an end. I think that was the fastest year yet! I've been looking back at all of the photographs that I've taken this year and wanted to share some of my favourites with you in my review of 2016.

This year I had more portrait and commercial jobs than ever, with a diverse range of products and occasions to photograph.

With the portraits I covered a Golden Wedding Anniversary, a 70th birthday family gathering, a 1st birthday party, a model portfolio and even a funeral celebration. Of course there were families who just wanted to update their photographs and give some as gifts. I also launched my Fine Art Portrait sessions.

On the commercial side I documented a building project, photographed children enjoying Adventure Valley for their social media campaigns, covered the Big Hair Do event at a hair salon and photographed various products.

Weddings were quiet again this year, but both couples took up my complimetary engagement photo shoot. We had great fun and were lucky to have perfect weather for their wedding days.

Off duty, I still carry my camera and we were lucky enough to go to Denmark for our summer holiday. I only took 900 photos because we went to Legoland and I couldn't stop taking pictures of the great Lego models! My husband and I also got a belated 10th wedding anniversary weekend away to Harrogate (after our 11th anniversary!).

This year I also started a personal photography project - 52 weekends. this was to encourage creativity and try out new effects on photographs by photographing something from each weekend.

So here are some highlights of this past year.

Next year marks my 20th year in the photography business - I can't wait to see what photographic assignments 2017 brings!

A model portfolio and the building project where I had to climb onto high scaffolding to get some shots!

Kirkley Hall wedding

The one wedding which gave me permission to share their photos. Their engagement shoot and the glorious wedding day at Kirkley Hall.

I always respect people who don't want their images to be shared. The bride from the other wedding that I photographed didn't like having her photo taken at all. She completely relaxed during our engagement session and loved her photos. They're not on social media and are very private people which is why they didn't want their images to be shared. Such a shame for me because there were some absolutely great shots that I took in Jesmond Dene.

The start of Fine Art Portraits. Timeless and classic.
