Reeds on a Sunday Afternoon Stroll

Yesterday, the hubby and I went for a stroll through the new estate near our house. At the moment we're lucky enough to live near the edge of our estate so it doesn't take long to get to open farmland. I say "at the moment" as there is more building going on, but as part of the new estate there is open land with paths. There are also some marshy ponds and a stream so quite picturesque.

Chef's Badge Photograph

My son is doing his chef's badge at Cubs so he had to prepare a two course meal, including some cooking and chopping. This weekend he made re-fried beans in tortilla wraps and lemon cheesecake. I had to take photos to document the process. I photographed every step which was a little over the top but I like to do things properly! This was one of the photos demonstrating that he chopped an onion.

Knitting, it's something I like to do.

Quite a few years ago, my mum bought me some gorgeous red ruffle yarn for my birthday. I knitted the scarf and my mum loved it so much that she bought some for herself. For some reason, her's didn't turn out quite so well so she gave me the yarn. It's sat in the bottom of my knitting bag since then. In true New Year sort out mode, I found it again and this weekend I started on the scarf. It's only taken a couple of evenings and is nearly finished!

Gingerbread House

This weekend my son went round to his Grandma and Grandpa's to help Grandma decorate a gingerbread house. He had great fun and I think that all of the sweets ended up on the house and not in his tummy! We got to bring it home so I played around with bokeh and a little gizmo that I made to shape the lights in the background.

Winter Sky With A Tree

Typically, there was an amazing winter sky on Saturday when I was driving home from an art fair (the other side of my business). I say typically becasue I didn't have my pro camera with me, only my camera phone. There was also an eerie mist hovering over the fields which my camera phone had no chance of picking up. So yesterday I walked along the road I had driven to see if I could get some similar shots.

Chocolate Orange Cake

Thankfully a weekend when I didn't feel awful with my cough/cold. Time to catch up with a friend at Cake Stories in Jesmond. It was a frosty morning but very warm and cosy inside. The Chocolate Orange cake was delicious and there were lots more fabulous looking cakes to try next time!

Fine Art Portrait

This last weekend was a free weekend, so what did I do? I took some test shots with my off camera flash for a fine art portrait. This was lit from the side so it just catches his face and highlights the concentration of reading his book, which he loves to do.
